Being born and raised in South Korea, I understand living and adjusting to a different culture. My experiences as an immigrant made me aware of the impact on mental health and gave me a deep understanding of people’s internal struggles which may stem from social isolation, lost identity and living as a minority.

Prior to my career in counseling, I had a career working for 20 years in sales and marketing for a Global IT Corporation, also as a career consultant and a recruiter in Human Resources, and with my move to the United States, owned and operated my own company trading steel products. My passion to help and counsel people led me to return to graduate school to pursue my second career path. I earned my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon.

After completing my Masters, I worked primarily with Asian Americans and other immigrants within a community mental health agency. I have worked with clients on a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, cultural and racial identity development, acculturation, life change and adjustment, relationship and family conflicts, parenting, career change, and interracial marriage.
